Get moving for Health Week

Being active can have a positive impact on your physical and mental health. Step up and try a variety of free or low cost yoga classes and other physical activities during Move For Health Week May 12 to 18.

Live healthy and live longer.

That’s the conclusion of numerous studies around the globe linking diet and exercise with longevity. And something the city with the longest life expectancy in Canada continues to advance.

During Move for Health Week (Saturday, May 12 through Friday, May 18) you’re invited to add to your workout routine by engaging in one of the more than 50 free or low-cost activities around the city. There’s something for all ages and abilities, from indoor and outdoor workouts including hoopla yoga, fitness workshops such as boxing and parent and tot playtime sessions led by a certified Sportball instructor.

Mayor Malcolm Brodie, who will lead the annual walk with the Mayor starting at 7 p.m. this Thursday, (May 10) at the Richmond Nature Park (11851 Westminster Hwy.), says “we all need to keep active to ensure we have a long and healthy life.”

“I invite everyone to join with me in trying some of the many activities offered locally for Move for Health Week and then to continue being active for an ongoing healthy lifestyle.”
