Artists in Action is this weekend at McArthur Glen Vancouver's shopping outlet on Sea Island.

Ten top artists will transform blank canvases into works of art this weekend at the inaugural Artists in Action event at McArthurGlen Vancouver’s shopping outlet on Sea Island.

Produced in partnership with the Grand Prix of Art—Richmond’s signature en plen air artists competition in Steveston on Saturday, Sept. 22—this weekend’s event will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18 and Sunday, Aug. 19.

And it will feature hand-picked artists, including:

• Larry Tillyer, an impressionist-style painter whose works feature brilliant, pure colour, strong linear strokes, and the expert use of light.

• Annie Tsai, who paints landscapes, still life and portraits to display her keen eye and well-trained technique

• Dan Gray, who is considered a pioneer of the recent revival of plein air painting, and whose painting is recognizable for his use of dramatic light effect and chalk pastels

• Edgardo Lantin, a contemporary realist known for his portrait paintings of dignitaries and personalities

• Iryna Kharina, a third generation artist who attempts to embody the imagination of the three-year-old child

This weekend’s display will be a perfect outing for locals looking for a unique event and a preview of the Steveston Grand Prix of Art.

- Peggy Burkosky (Portraits, Plein air; Watercolour, illustrator and charcoal/conte)

- Annie Tsai (Landscape, still life and portrait; Acrylic, oil paint, sketch, watercolour)

- Leo Hu (Landscape, portrait; Oil paint, drawing, watercolour, sculpture)

- Mike Radford (Still life, plein air; Watercolour)

- Edgardo Lantin (Portraits; Oil paint)

Sunday, Aug. 19(3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

- Dan Gray (Plein air; Chalk pastels)

- Peggy Burkosky (Portraits; Watercolour, illustrator and charcoal/conte)

- Larry Tillyer (Landscape, figure, plein air, genre; Acrylics)

- Thomas Taylor (Plein air; Acrylic, gouache, watercolour)

- Jose De Juan (Plein air; Watercolour, oil paint, computer)

- Iryna Kharina (Landscape and still-life; Acrylic, oil paint)
