Richmond’s newest millionaire is planning a family getaway.

Peter Mitford says instead of new cars and toys, traveling will be a priority after he accepted a $1 million prize in the Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed Prize Draw held Jan. 19. His ticket matched all 10 numbers.

“We’re not very materialistic,” Mitford says. “My family loves traveling, so in the immediate future that’s what we’re going to do.”

Mitford learned he’d won the lottery while sitting on his sofa checking draw results on his tablet. He also scanned his ticket using the Lotto app on his daughter’s cell phone.

“It was a very exciting and happy time for us,” he says. “This win simply gives my family more options and more freedom.”

Mitford bought his winning ticket at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Williams and Shell roads.
