Richmond Mounties are investigating an early Tuesday morning shooting in South Richmond that has left one victim with serious injuries.
Richmond RCMP Acting Cpl. Adriana Peralta said a shooting took place shortly before 6 a.m. in the 7800 block of Waterton Drive, west of No. 3 Road and Steveston Highway.
The victim was transported to hospital.
“This is an active and unfolding investigation,” Peralta said. “We want to stress to the public the we take their safety seriously and have engaged every available resource to investigate this incident and ensure their safety.”
A few neighbours on Waterton Drive describe a sketchy looking two-storey home that’s almost completely obscured from the road by bushes, near the corner of Waterton and Malahat Avenue.
A neighbour told The Richmond Sentinel Tuesday morning that’s the house that’s behind yellow police tape.
Another neighbour described that house as having little activity, but when there is activity, it involves a “younger and rougher crowd.” The same neighbour said police were seen at that same house a year or two ago.
Many neighbours said it’s disconcerting knowing a shooting took place so close to home.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212, or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Investigators said they will not be releasing any more information because the investigation is ongoing.
