New acting chair appointed for BC Human Rights Tribunal

Paul Singh has been appointed acting chair of the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the independent tribunal responsible for accepting, screening, mediating and adjudicating human rights complaints.
Singh was appointed as a full-time member April 16, 2018 and holds degrees from the University of British Columbia and from the Schulich Business School at York University, and was called to the bars of Ontario and British Columbia in 2004. He completed his mediation training at Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation in 2019.
Prior to joining the BC Human Rights Tribunal, Singh was a senior Crown counsel with the Department of Justice Canada. From 2004 to 2010, he was a civil litigator in private practice in B.C. where he maintained a broad litigation practice in fields including commercial, insurance and employment law.
Singh's appointment is for a six-month term, as it is imperative there are no interruptions to service until a full-time chair is appointed through a robust, merit-based recruitment process. He replaces Diana Juricevic (Vandor) following her appointment to the provincial court effective Feb. 1.
