B.C. reports 411 new COVID-19 cases

B.C. health authorities reported 411 new cases of COVID-19 today, five of which are epidemiologically linked. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 140,075 cases.
The consistent decline in new cases continues today; last Tuesday there were 515 new cases. Of today’s new cases, 37 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 285 in the Fraser Health region, 12 in the Island Health region, 69 in the Interior Health region and eight in the Northern Health region.
There are 4,890 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 360 of those people are hospitalized, 127 of whom are in intensive care. Hospitalized people with active cases rose by 10 from yesterday’s count, but intensive care admissions declined by five.
To date, 2,566,936 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca-SII COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 131,837 of those are second doses.
Sadly, there were two new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 1,650.
Health authorities reported one new healthcare facility outbreak. There are now active outbreaks at four long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities and two acute care facilities.
