Each May, the Richmond Kajaks traditionally host two meets that account for a significant portion of their operating budget.

But for the past two years, including this spring, COVID-19 has forced the cancelling of both the Richmond Elementary School Zone Meets and the BC Elementary School Track and Field Championships.

The result has left the Kajaks, a non-profit community group, scrambling for creative ways to raise funds while operating on a tight budget.

For the second straight year, one of its annual fundraisers has become a shredding event. This year that will be held May 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McMath Secondary School. So while residents are perhaps on their way to or from the polls on by-election day, the Kajaks invite you to drop off items to be shredded.
