COVID-19 in B.C. today: 391 new cases, 13 deaths

B.C. health officials reported 391 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 349,604 cases.
Of the new cases, 43 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 88 in the Fraser Health region, 85 in the Island Health region, 100 in the Interior Health region, 75 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
The latest local data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control shows there were 42 cases in Richmond last week (Feb. 20 to 26), down from 65 the previous week (Feb. 13 to 19).
There are 511 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 79 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,355,173 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,303,614 of those are second doses and 2,590,923 are third doses.
This means that 93.6 per cent of adults, 93.3 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.6 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.2 per cent of adults, 90.8 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 86.3 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 57.9 per cent of adults and 55.9 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there were 13 new COVID-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,896. Of those who died, four lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, four in the Fraser Health region, three in the Interior Health region, and two in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported one new health-care facility outbreak and declared one over. Active outbreaks continue at 19 long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility, and one acute care facility.
From Feb. 23 to March 1, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 19.6 per cent of cases.
From Feb. 16 to March 1, they accounted for 34.4 per cent of hospitalizations.
