B.C. reports 340 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

B.C. health officials reported 340 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 349,944 cases.
Of the new cases, 41 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 71 in the Fraser Health region, 65 in the Island Health region, 113 in the Interior Health region, 50 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 484 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 69 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,361,559 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,305,507 of those are second doses and 2,594,873 are third doses.
This means that 93.6 per cent of adults, 93.3 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.7 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.2 per cent of adults, 90.8 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 86.4 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 58.0 per cent of adults and 56.0 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there were eight new COVID-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,903. Of those who died, one lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, two in the Fraser Health region, four in the Island Health region, and one in the Interior Health region. One reported death was removed from the total due to a data correction, according to a B.C. government news release.
Health authorities reported one health-care facility outbreak over. Active outbreaks continue at 18 long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility, and one acute care facility.
From Feb. 24 to March 2, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 19.2 per cent of cases and from Feb. 17 to March 2, they accounted for 33.1 per cent of hospitalizations.
