B.C. reports 259 new COVID-19 cases, no deaths

B.C. health officials reported 259 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 354,343 cases.
The numbers of new and total cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh, according to a B.C. government news release.
Of the new cases, 63 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 47 in the Fraser Health region, 50 in the Island Health region, 76 in the Interior Health region, 23 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 254 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 48 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,453,778 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,339,973 of those are second doses and 2,646,447 are third doses.
This means that 93.8 per cent of adults, 93.4 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.8 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.4 per cent of adults, 91.0 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 87.1 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 58.9 per cent of adults and 57.1 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
There were no new COVID-related deaths reported today.
Health authorities reported three health-care facility outbreaks over. Active outbreaks continue at four long-term care facilities and one acute care facility.
From March 14 to 20, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 16.2 per cent of cases. From March 7 to 20, they accounted for 26.2 per cent of hospitalizations.
