Richmond RCMP is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a hit-and-run that injured an 11-year-old boy.

Just before 9 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 5), police officers responded to the area of No. 1 Road and Tucker Avenue after reports that a boy was struck. The boy was pushing his bicycle in a marked pedestrian crosswalk and was struck by a grey minivan which then sideswiped another vehicle before fleeing the scene, according to a police news release.

The child had non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, but has since been released. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect allegedly driving the grey minivan was described as an Asian woman, possibly in her 50s, with a bob-style haircut. The grey minivan may have light damage on it.

Richmond RCMP is actively investigating this collision and wants to locate the driver. Anyone with information on this incident or potential dashcam footage is asked to contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file #2022-27171.
