RCMP Gifts on Wheels, taking place this Saturday (Oct. 22) at Lansdowne Centre, is raising money and support for the Richmond Christmas Fund.

The fund is celebrating its 90th birthday this year. On display at the RCMP-organized event will be two Ferraris and one Lamborghini “dressed up” as RCMP cruisers.

“We are very excited to be part of the Richmond Christmas Fund for at least 12 years and we want to help in any way we can to support families in need this holiday season,” says Lansdowne Centre marketing manager  Bronwyn Bailey. “Thanks to the generous support from car owners Cheryl Kwok and Win Lui, and the Richmond RCMP, we hope to set the tone to generate support for this longstanding Christmas initiative.”

The event is taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. With a donation of $10 or more, members of the public can take photos with the super “cruisers” and RCMP officers in red serge uniforms. Funds go towards supporting families in need this holiday season. The annual RCRG Toy Drive will take place on Nov. 19 in the Lansdowne Centre parking lot.

“We are grateful for the community’s support for the last 89 years. The fundraising and toy drive initiatives are especially important in times of the pandemic and rising inflation. We hope many people will continue to support the Christmas Fund so that Richmond's most vulnerable can celebrate in the spirit of the holidays,” says Ed Gavsie, president and chief executive officer of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives which annually operates the fund.
