Richmond RCMP is investigating after two pedestrians were hit by a car on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 9).

Police responded to the 12200 block of Cambie Road (east of No. 5 Road) just after 3 p.m. after reports of two  teenage pedestrians being struck by an early 2000s model Toyota.

The two pedestrians, both 15-year-old girls, were transported to hospital. One sustained serious injuries and the other sustained critical injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old girl, was uninjured. She remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

The two pedestrians were not on the roadway during the collision. Both pedestrians and the driver are from Richmond, and neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.

Richmond RCMP is asking members of the public with any information or dashcam footage to contact 604-278-1212 and quote file #2023-4296.
