Richmond Women’s Resource Centre (RWRC) celebrates International Women’s Day at Ember Indian Kitchen in Steveston, #135 - 6168 London Road. This year's event will include a delicious 3-course lunch, VIP speakers and online auction highlights. Keynote Speaker, Julia Lin, educator and celebrated author of "Shadows of the Crimson Sun" and "Miah" will speak about the importance of ongoing work in support of gender equity and towards more diverse and inclusive communities.

RWRC's mission is "Thriving Women, Thriving Communities". For almost 50 years, through classes, programs and peer support, RWRC has helped women and girls in Richmond reach their full potential. Board co-chair Traci Corr says: "Over the past year, we have maintained many of our most popular programs, like our English language classes. We are also always listening to the community and have added in new programs, like our Heart Health walk group and programs to assist women facing food insecurity. We are excited for what the future has to offer".
Canada's theme for IWD 2024 is "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress". It's a call to action and a reminder that gender equity is one of the most effective ways to build healthier, more prosperous, and more inclusive communities. Board co-chair Jenny Mak says: "IWD is our biggest fundraiser of the year and community support is essential for our ongoing operation. RWRC receives no regular funding and relies on grants, donations, and fundraisers like this one for our ongoing operation.  We are incredibly grateful for the community's strong support".
An RWRC program participant says: "I love the programs at RWRC. I always feel welcome there and they have helped me learn many new skills and feel less alone".

Those interested in celebrating IWD with RWRC on March 2, from 12 to 2 p.m., at Ember Indian Kitchen in Steveston, tickets are available through the Eventbrite link below or call the RWRC office at 604-279-7060. The online auction launches Feb. 26 and runs through March 15.
