Spooktacular Halloween activities in Richmond

This October, get into the Halloween spirit with more than 20 spooktacular events and activities happening across Richmond. From family-friendly fun to frightful festivities, there’s something for everyone—culminating in the fang-tastic Halloween Fireworks Festival at Minoru Park on Friday, Oct. 31. Other family-friendly and spooky activities include:

  • Halloween-themed skates in costume at Minoru Arenas
  • Trick or treating at City Centre Community Centre
  • Boogie-ing at a Monster Mash Dance Party at Cambie and South Arm Community Centres
  • Getting crafty with Halloween-themed origami at Steveston Community Centre and Minoru Centre for Active Living
  • Making magical potions and slime at South Arm, Thompson and West Richmond Community Centres
  • Dropping in to the Halloween Hoot at the Richmond Nature Park from October 18 to 29

On Halloween night, bring friends and family to the Halloween Fireworks Festival at Minoru Park (7191 Granville Avenue) from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. This year’s theme is “Creepy Carnival”, with an evening packed with thrilling entertainment and festive fun for all ages, including:

  • Stage performers of acrobats, jugglers, fire performers and the ShowStoppers ensemble
  • Roving performers, stilt walkers and face painters
  • A live professional pumpkin carver creating spooky masterpieces
  • An opportunity to meet real-life ghost hunters at the Cornerstone Supernatural booth
  • An inflatable fun house maze that takes a terrifying twist after 7:30 p.m.
  • Carnival-style games and activities to win candy and full-sized chocolate bars, with over 10,000 pieces of candy to be given away to trick or treaters
  • A variety of on-site food trucks offering Greek food, teriyaki bowls, burgers, tornado potatoes, mini donuts and warm drinks for sale
  • Richmond’s biggest fireworks display, starting at 9 p.m.

Fireworks and firecrackers are illegal to possess, buy, sell or detonate in Richmond. City Bylaws staff, as well as RCMP units, will be out and about this month. A zero tolerance approach will be taken to ensure the safety of the community.
