Richmond Kajaks are hosting an introduction to track and field this weekend.
The Try Track event, a free session for the community, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (March 7) at Minoru Park.
Organizers are specifically looking to engage students and teachers to learn proper techniques and safety for running, jumping and throwing events.
At the same time, they also hope to introduce track and field as a sport for those who have never tried the sport before.
Participants are being asked to arrived 15 minutes early, at 9:45 a.m., and gather at the white Kajaks’ tent located at the start of the 100 metre straightaway on the track. The event will be held, rain or shine, and participants are asked to wear active clothing and running shoes and bring water, a snack and a towel.
