Vivian Eliopoulos has been named interim president and CEO of Vancouver Coastal Health, replacing Mary Ackenhusen who will be joining B.C. Ministry of Health.

Currently the vice president of Vancouver-Richmond acute services, Eliopoulos has provided leadership to a diverse portfolio of secondary, tertiary and quaternary hospital and ambulatory services for patients from across our region and the rest of the province. With a long history of providing care and leadership, she is also the Vancouver Coastal Health executive sponsor supporting Lower Mainland diagnostic imaging, laboratory services and pharmacy services, which provide critical patient services to both Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care. Over the last 12 weeks, since the first COVID-19 outbreak at VCH, Eliopoulos has also been the executive lead for the VCH COVID-19 emergency operations response.

“With our knowledge of her extensive experience and her deep commitment to exceptional patient, client and resident care across the broad continuum of our health system at VCH, the board has full confidence that Vivian will provide excellent leadership to the organization and the senior executive team while the board undertakes the recruitment of a permanent president and CEO at Vancouver Coastal Health,” says board chair Dr. Penny Ballem.
