BC’s economy is continuing to recover during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the November labour force survey.
Last month another 23,900 jobs were gained throughout BC, and total employment is now at 98.5 per cent of pre-pandemic levels—the highest job recovery rate among Canada’s four largest provinces. The unemployment rate is now at 7.1 per cent, with the national average sitting at 8.5 per cent.
"However, we know there are businesses still struggling and it's going to be many months before vaccines can get to everyone in British Columbia,” said Ravi Kahlon, minister of jobs, economy recovery and innovation. “Until then, we are focused on building a foundation of recovery that works for everyone in this province.”
