Community members with disabilities, their families, and caretakers can participate in one of three focus groups to help shape the city’s new accessibility plan.

The Richmond Accessibility Plan (2023–2028) is intended to guide the city’s work to advance accessibility in the community, in collaboration with community organizations and residents. People can share ideas on how the city can identify, prevent, and remove barriers for people with disabilities in the community.

Pre-registration is required for all sessions. The City of Richmond strives to host events that are accessible and inclusive for everyone. American Sign Language interpretation and closed captioning will be provided. Those with other accessibility needs can note them when registering.

Details on the three sessions are below:

• Focus group #1: Feb. 15 from 10 to 11:30 a.m in the Launch Pad Classroom at Brighouse library branch (100–7700 Minoru Gate). The Launch Pad Classroom is an accessible space and accessible parking is available onsite. Parents with young children are welcome to attend, although no childminding will be provided.

• Focus group #2: Feb. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., online, via Zoom. Pre-registered participants will receive the Zoom meeting link.

• Focus group #3: Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., online, via Zoom. Pre-registered participants will receive the Zoom meeting link.

People can register by emailing tracy@happycities.com and include their name, the session they would like to participate in, and any accessibility needs they have.
