Braaten steps down from baseball helm
When John Braaten became president of the Richmond City Baseball Association five years ago, one of his priorities was to continue to advance the game at the grassroots.

Richmond City Baseball Association five years ago, one of his priorities was to
continue to advance the game at the grassroots.
As he steps down effectively immediately from
the post, he’s confident progress has been made.
“There have been great strides in recent
years, which I am most proud of, with fellow volunteer board members and the
hundreds more that keep our youth athletes (as) role models within the
community,” he said.
Earlier this season, Braaten told the Sentinel:
“We have seen player retention remain high, a result of the many changes RCBA
has implemented over the years including six-on-six games for 5U to 9U allowing
for more opportunities and reps. More player engagement hopefully continues to
build our brand.”
Extending best wishes to the association
going forward, Braaten said the decision to move on from the RCBA followed some
time of reflection, as well as family and external discussions.
“Coming up on almost five years as president and 15 more as a volunteer, this position has allowed me to meet hundreds of people within our community for which I am ever grateful. I have been afforded a new volunteer baseball opportunity so I am sure I will see many of you around the diamonds in the future.”
