North Shore Avalanche was third time lucky at
the B.C. Women’s B Division Softball Championships last weekend in Richmond.
It took the Avalanche three tries to defeat
the Surrey Storm 98, but after losses in the round-robin and again in the
quarter-finals the North Shore club chose the optimum time to stand tall with a
4-2 victory in the gold medal game.
Representative of the long road to the final
(13 round-robin and 24 double knockout games were needed to determine the
winner), third-place Lakehill Blazers from Victoria had to play seven playoff
games before earning their bronze medals.
Two host teams finished out of the medals.
Richmond Mustangs, recently promoted to Senior B, tied for fifth with victories
over the Valley Cats, Victoria Impact and South Delta Invaders.
Richmond Islanders tied for ninth.
