Sockeyes looking to finish strong

The last time the Richmond Sockeyes faced the Abbotsford Pilots they reached double figures.
The scoreline of their scheduled follow-up engagement this Thursday (Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at Minoru Arenas) may be more conservative than Rikchmond’s 10-2 win here 10 days ago, but no less important as Pacific Junior Hockey League teams jockey for playoff position.
With three wins in (save for a 3-2 to league-leading North Vancouver Wolf Pack; 33-1-0-1) in their last four games, the Sockeyes (23-9-1-4) are currently second in the Tom Shaw Conference with seven games to go in the regular season.
Ever the optimist, Sockeyes’ owner Doug Paterson begins 2020 with a strong belief in always setting goals and objectives. He’s passed those traits along to his favourite team.
While every season is different, Paterson says the current Sockeyes are a much younger team than normal. He believes communication is key to helping tap their potential.
“Every game is a learning proposition,” he says.
