The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of B.C. is recognizing its top 100 golf professionals of 2022, as determined by the association’s Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by sporting apparel brands Sunice and Bobby Jones. The PDP Order of Merit acknowledges PGA of BC Professionals who make outstanding contributions to the association, their communities, the province’s golf industry and—most importantly—themselves. The PDP provides an avenue to showcase and reward the diverse strengths of PGA of B.C. professionals by crediting their participation in continuing education, the association’s annual buying show and awards program, tournament competition, and various forms of volunteerism. The top 100 golf professionals of 2022 are listed with their primary facility or employer affiliation for the past year. The Richmond golfers are below: • Mike Cyndroski (Richmond Country Club) • Nathan Leonhardt (Par-Tee Golf) • Doug Morgan (Richmond Country Club) • Graham Ogden (Richmond Country Club) • Cory Renfrew (Modern Golf Vancouver) • John Vu (Quilchena Golf & Country Club) • Daniel Yoon (Richmond Country Club) “Sunice and Bobby Jones would like to congratulate members of the PGA of BC named to the association’s top 100 golf professionals in 2022,” said Stephen Graham, B.C. sales representative at Sunice and Bobby Jones. “The group of men and women who comprise the list of top 100 professionals is always remarkable and their efforts to maintain their position demonstrates tremendous dedication to their craft and personal growth. We are proud to support an initiative like the Professional Development Program that recognizes the hard work of PGA of BC members to the benefit of all in British Columbia’s golf community and industry.” Brian McDonald, executive professional at Fairview Mountain Golf Club in Oliver, has topped the 2022 PDP Order of Merit for a second consecutive year, becoming the first two-time winner of the program. McDonald amassed 109 points over the course of the year, topping this year’s standings by 11 points. "When I looked at the list last year of past winners, I noticed that no one had ever gone back-to-back since the PDP’s inception so I actually used that as a big part of my motivation for the season and my planned participation in events,” said McDonald. “I have always prided myself on being an active PGA of BC member because it keeps you connected to what is going on within the industry and allows you to meet so many like-minded PGA members along the way”. McDonald said his efforts to top the standings in succession required commitment to education and tournaments, as well as giving back to his community through volunteerism. He added that his peers pushing him through the year-long standings helped drive him. "I think the moment you stop paying attention to opportunities to grow within your industry it’s the start of your decline," said McDonald. Thanks to the patronage of Sunice and Bobby Jones, the top 10 finishers on the Order of Merit will again split a bursary purse of nearly $5,000, meant to provide financial opportunity and incentive to pursue additional education and professional development undertakings in the future. |
