Charges are pending after a man allegedly fired a gun from a residence into a field yesterday.

Richmond RCMP attended the 11000 block of Steveston Highway around 10:15 a.m. According to the complainant, the man appeared to be shooting at birds but no one was injured as a result of the incident.

While the residence is located within a zone where hunting is permitted, numerous hunting violations were observed. A number of firearms were seized under the Criminal Code of Canada for alleged violations including careless storage.

People considering hunting in Richmond are reminded to review all federal, provincial and municipal bylaws.
