Richmond RCMP executed search warrants on Saturday to three locations associated with a multi-jurisdictional crime group committing frauds throughout the province.

The search warrants for one property in Vancouver and two in Richmond were executed safely, also resulting in the temporary closure of a section of Cambie Road in the middle of Saturday afternoon to facilitate the operation.

A stolen vehicle and two stolen scooters were recovered, as well as items associated to the production of fraudulent identification cards and credit cards. Two people on outstanding warrants and three on fraud charges were also arrested. Notably, amongst the suspected stolen property recovered were two four-foot “Nutcracker” figurines.

"This was an excellent example of our investigative units working together to combat crime in Richmond," said Const. Kenneth Lau. "As a result of the efforts of the Richmond Economic Crime Unit, along with the support of other Richmond RCMP investigative units, we have disrupted a significant fraud and property crime ring operating in the city of Richmond."

Anyone with further information about this investigation or other criminal activity is asked to contact the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212, or if you wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at www.solvecrime.ca.
