Community In Motion generates $30,000

The numbers are in, and the inaugural
Community In Motion was a resounding success.
Held July 8 at Garry Point Park, the event
designed to to get Richmond residents moving in support of local charities
raised close to $30,000 for participating organizations.
Eleven Richmond non-profit organizations
co-hosted the event, which was organized by Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives.
Nearly 180 Richmond residents came out to
support their local charitable group by walking, running, or biking around the
park and along the West Dyke Trail.
In addition to the walk, run and bike ride,
Community In Motion (which will be held annually) featured family-friendly
activities like face painting and a community treasure hunt. As well, each non-profit
organization had an information booth at the event, giving the public a chance
to learn about the wide range of community services available in Richmond.
Community In Motion was sponsored by Richmond Children First, theRichmond Community Services Advisory Committee, Costco, and the Richmond Sentinel.
