Have your say on changes to Steveston Area Plan

Interested groups and individuals are invited
to have their say on the proposed views down the streets for Steveston’s main
thoroughfares, Bayview, Chatham and Moncton Streets. The City of Richmond offers open houses at the Steveston
Community Centre on Thursday, July 20 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July
22 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
There will be displays of the options being
considered.
City hall staff from the community planning
and transportation departments will be at the events to answer questions.
The public can then have their say through a
public survey they fill in either on site or online through LetsTalkRichmond.ca
According to the City of Richmond
spokesperson Kim Decker, “Since the updates to the Steveston Area Plan in 2009,
there have been some recent concerns in the community about whether new
development fits with the character of Steveston Village. On June6, 2017,
Council endorsed the launch of public engagement on options for updating design
and heritage policies and options for streetscape concepts for Bayview, Chatham
and Moncton Streets.”
After the public consultation phase, Richmond
city hall staff will report their findings to city council this October. The city of Richmond says it will take
into consideration the open house and online comments, before the preferred
options go to council for a decision on amendments to the Steveston Area Plan
and streetscape plans.
In addition, the public can visit the website
above to find up-to-date information on the project, explore the open house
boards and complete an online survey available from Friday, July14
through to Sunday, July 30 at 11:59 p.m.
