Richmond RCMP are seeking witnesses for a hit and run involving a cyclist on Friday (Sept. 24).

Police arrived at the 8200 block of Granville Avenue, just east of No. 3 Road, around 3:02 p.m. The cyclist said he was riding eastbound on Granville Avenue in the bicycle lane when a silver Honda SUV allegedly clipped the back of his bicycle causing him to lose control.

According to a witness, the driver of the SUV initially got out of the vehicle and looked at the cyclist. However, the driver left the scene of the collision without providing his information to the cyclist.

The driver is described as an Asian male in his mid-40s with a slim build and black hair.

A witness to the collision was able to obtain a partial plate of 73B for the vehicle.

The cyclist was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated for his injuries and then released.

Richmond RCMP are asking anyone who was in the area around that time to review their dash cam or video surveillance.

Anyone who may have witnessed, or have information regarding this file, is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2021-26317. Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit them online at www.solvecrime.ca.
