City launches new council database

Richmondites can now search council minutes
dating back to 2000, thanks to a new database.
More than 12,000 entries spanning 19 years is
available for viewing from council meetings, public hearings and standing
committee meetings. The database is regularly updated, ensuring that viewers
have accurate and new information. To ease access, features of the database
allow users to search by keyword or phrase, narrow or broaden text by date, and
observe topics by subject, name or committee. Users can also read up on full
sets of minutes and save, email or print these results.
This system exemplifies Richmond City Council’s
long-standing commitment to ensuring an open and transparent government, with
information that is easily accessible to the public.
Another initiative will be launched later
this year, providing summaries from council minutes, focusing on how each
council member voted.
