Active case count at 3,380

B.C. health officials reported today that there are 3,380 active cases of COVID-19 in the province—the lowest number in more than three months.

Of those with active cases, 379 people are hospitalized, 109 of whom are in intensive care. 

Health officials also reported 324 new cases of COVID-19. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 213,682 cases.

Of the new cases, 60 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 108 in the Fraser Health region, 33 in the Island Health region, 50 in the Interior Health region, 73 in the Northern Health region and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

To date, 8,471,017 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,027,146 of those are second doses. 

This means that 91.2 per cent of adults and 90.7 per cent of people aged 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 87.4 per cent of adults and 86.9 per cent of those aged 12 and older have received two doses.

Sadly, there were seven new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,281. Of those who died, two lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, two in the Fraser Health region, one in the Island Health region and two in the Northern Health region.

Health authorities reported one healthcare facility outbreak over. Active outbreaks continue at 13 long-term care facilities, three assisted or independent living facilities and six acute care facilities.

An elementary school in Enderby (Interior Health) also had an outbreak declared.

From Nov. 9 to 15, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 60.8 per cent of cases.
From Nov. 2 to 15, they accounted for 71.9 per cent of hospitalizations.

• Not vaccinated: 1,755 (56.0 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 149 (4.8 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 1,229 (39.2 per cent)

Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Nov. 2 to 15)—Total 342

• Not vaccinated: 219 (64.0 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 27 (7.9 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 96 (28.1 per cent)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 9 to 15)

• Not vaccinated: 223.3

• Partially vaccinated: 62.7

• Fully vaccinated: 27.9

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 2 to 15)

• Not vaccinated: 45.4

• Partially vaccinated: 17.0

• Fully vaccinated: 2.1
