B.C. reports 322 new cases, nine deaths

B.C. health authorities reported 322 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 216,334 cases.

Of the new cases, 50 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 100 in the Fraser Health region, 42 in the Island Health region, 86 in the Interior Health region, 44 in the Northern Health region and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

There are 3,015 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 318 of those people are hospitalized, 109 of whom are in intensive care. 

To date, 8,587,520 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,053,088 of those are second doses. 

This means that 91.4 per cent of adults and 91 per cent of people aged 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 88 per cent of adults and 87.4 per cent of those aged 12 and older have received two doses.

Sadly, there were nine new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,313. Of those who died, three lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, one in the Interior Health region and five in the Northern Health region.

Health authorities reported two healthcare facility outbreaks over. Active outbreaks continue at six long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility and three acute care facilities. 

A new outbreak was also declared at St. Ann’s Catholic School in Quesnel (Northern Health).

From Nov. 16 to 22, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 58.1 per cent of cases.
From Nov. 9 to 22, they accounted for 69.2 per cent of hospitalizations.

• Not vaccinated: 1,438 (54 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 109 (4.1 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 1,116 (41.9 per cent)

Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Nov. 9 to 22)—Total 299

• Not vaccinated: 184 (61.5 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 23 (7.7 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 92 (30.8 per cent)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 16 to 22)

• Not vaccinated: 193.8

• Partially vaccinated: 48.1

• Fully vaccinated: 25.1

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 9 to 22)

• Not vaccinated: 38.4

• Partially vaccinated: 15.8

• Fully vaccinated: 2.0
