New B.C. COVID-19 cases holding steady with 368 today

B.C. health authorities reported 368 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 219,180 cases.

Of the new cases, 48 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 90 in the Fraser Health region, 88 in the Island Health region, 101 in the Interior Health region, 40 in the Northern Health region and one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada.

There are 3,020 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 284 of those people are hospitalized, 97 of whom are in intensive care. 

To date, 8,736,385 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,076,233 of those are second doses and 452,593 are third doses. 

This means that 91.6 per cent of adults, 91.2 per cent of people aged 12 and older and 85 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 88.5 per cent of adults, 87.9 per cent of those aged 12 and older and 81.8 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses.

Sadly, there were five new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,345. Of those who died, three lived in the Fraser Health region and two in the Northern Health region.

Active outbreaks continue at two long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility and two acute care facilities.

From Nov. 24 to 30, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 57.9 per cent of cases.

From Nov. 17 to 30, they accounted for 68.1 per cent of hospitalizations.

• Not vaccinated: 1,332 (54 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 96 (3.9 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 1,040 (42.1 per cent)

Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Nov. 17 to 30)—Total 248

• Not vaccinated: 160 (64.5 per cent)

• Partially vaccinated: 9 (3.6 per cent)

• Fully vaccinated: 79 (31.9 per cent)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 24 to 30)

• Not vaccinated: 181.4

• Partially vaccinated: 45.2

• Fully vaccinated: 23.2

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 17 to 30)

• Not vaccinated: 34.4

• Partially vaccinated: 6.0

• Fully vaccinated: 1.7
