Night market set to open next month

An annual favourite, this year’s Richmond Night Market will open on April 29.
The theme is “Summer Magic Rainbow,” aiming to offer a rainbow of possibilities to visitors. Traditional neon lights with Chinese characters will be placed throughout the market, evoking the original night markets in old Shanghai. Individual food booths will also be lit up with their own light displays.
The games area will re-open with more games including a virtual reality experience. There will be rides and bouncy castles, including one that is about nine metres (30 feet) tall and over 15 metres (50 feet) wide. And near the food court will be a new Coca-Cola Fun Park.
The international food fair will offer more booths and food trucks, with eight different countries represented. Live entertainment and shopping will also be available on-site.
Attendance will be limited during peak times and masks will be mandatory in some high-traffic areas.
The night market is located at the corner of No. 3 and River roads, one block from the Bridgeport Canada Line station. It will be open weekends through Oct. 10.
