B.C. reports COVID-19 data from April 10 to 16

In the past week (April 10 to 16) there were 2,036 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 361,034 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 331 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 580 in the Fraser Health region, 379 in the Island Health region, 599 in the Interior Health region, and 147 in the Northern Health region.

As of today, there are 485 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 38 of whom are in critical care. The hospitalization number is up by 121 compared to last week’s tally.

There were 238 new hospital admissions in the past week (April 10 to 16). Of those, 44 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 97 in the Fraser Health region, 39 in the Island Health region, 41 in the Interior Health region, and 17 in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (April 3 to 9) increased to 289 from the 233 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 27 deaths between April 10 and 16. 

Of those who died, seven lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, three in the Fraser Health region, seven in the Island Health region, seven in the Interior Health region, and three in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (April 3 to 9) increased to 37 from the 23 originally reported last week.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 45 cases in Richmond last week (April 10 to 16), up from 28 the previous week (April 3 to 9).
