Richmond RCMP is one of the local sites taking part in Doors Open this weekend.

Its City Centre Community Police Office (6931 Granville Ave.), which opened to the public on April 1 of this year, will open its doors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday (June 4 and 5).

Participating in this event is extremely important to us. We recognize a lot of people have never met a police officer in person or seen the inside of a police vehicle, says Cpl. Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP media relations officer. This is an opportunity for the public to ask any questions they may have and get to know some of our staff and volunteers.

Richmond RCMP officers, along with volunteers, will have a wide range of activities and information, including:

  • Spot the target: how many items can you find inside a vehicle that makes it a target for auto crime?
  • 529 Bike registration
  • Crime prevention information, including safety tips and RCMP program

There will also be a variety of police vehicles to view, and a “spin the safety wheel” for kids to test their safety knowledge and receive a prize.

Doors Open Richmond is presented annually by the Richmond Museum. This is the 15th year the event has taken place, and the first since 2019 to offer in-person opportunities.
