Police investigating collision between car and cyclist

Richmond RCMP is investigating a collision involving a cyclist that happened last night (June 26) at the intersection of Steveston Highway and Railway Avenue.

Police arrived at the intersection around 10:31 p.m. According to an RCMP news release, a white Nissan Rogue was driving westbound on Steveston Highway when a cyclist, heading north on Railway Avenue, entered the intersection.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The cyclist remains in hospital. 

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Neither speed nor impairment are considered to be a factor in this collision.

According to a witness, the light was green for vehicles driving on Steveston Highway.
