Bike, e-scooter, walk, Skytrain, or take the bus to join in the neighbourhood celebration of the opening of the second phase of Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park on July 27 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
This fun, free, family-friendly celebration will include music, face painting, chalk art, caricature artist, food trucks, and more, as well as an official opening by Mayor Malcolm Brodie and city council.
Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park originally opened in July 2018. Its features included opportunities for both a natural, passive setting and an active urban plaza, to accommodate events and active recreation.
As part of the second phase, four key elements were added: an all-ages playground, Chinese garden, public washroom, and pavilion, completing the vision for this park.
These additional elements enhance the existing park by creating a gathering space that serves as a focal point for the emerging and rapidly densifying Capstan Village. The surrounding shrubs, trees, and pollinator-friendly groundcover plants support urban wildlife habitat and natural areas.
Bring the whole family, grab some dinner, enjoy the music, create a watercolour painting, and meander through the park and enjoy all of the new features available to the public.
Aberdeen Neighbourhood Park is located at 8331 Cambie Road.
