The 90th annual Richmond Christmas Fund will launch in less than a month, providing Richmondites in need with grocery vouchers, toys, books, and gift cards.

This year’s program will run over four Saturdays, from Nov. 19 to Dec. 10. On those days, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., residents seeking support can come to Richmond Caring Place (7000 Minoru Blvd.), where volunteers will assess their eligibility. Those who qualify for assistance will receive their selection items on the same day they register.

The eighth annual Richmond RCMP Toy Drive will take place in the Lansdowne Centre parking lot on Nov. 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. People who bring a new unwrapped toy for the Christmas Fund, or those who make a minimum $10 donation, will get a bag of warm mini donuts.

Santa will be in attendance, as will caricature artist Cartoon Katie. And, like last year, Summit Customs Brokers and Manitoulin Transport are sponsoring a dunk tank where some RCMP members will take the plunge.

Richmond RCMP also hosted the recent Gifts on Wheels event at Lansdowne Centre, which raised over $2,300 for the Christmas Fund.

Another way to support the Christmas Fund is through two auctions—one online and one in-person.

Between Nov. 21 and Dec. 7, people can bid online on hundreds of items, from air fryers to restaurant gift cards to rounds of golf. All proceeds will benefit the Christmas Fund.

The in-person A Not So Silent Night event is happening on Dec. 7 at the new Porsche Centre Richmond. The event requires a purchased ticket to attend, and will feature a carefully curated selection of food and drink, holiday-themed entertainment, and an exclusive live auction that includes luxury packages.

Support of the annual Richmond Christmas Fund makes a huge difference and helps brighten the holidays for families in need. For more information, visit rcrg.org/WhatWeDo/RCRGPrograms/richmond-christmas-fund/assistance
