Richmond-based company PressReader has appointed a new chief executive officer, Ruairí Doyle.

PressReader creates technology that aims to change the way people read newspapers and magazines. It offers a subscription service allowing access to more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines in 64 languages from over 120 countries.

“I am honoured to take on the role of PressReader’s new chief executive officer,” says Doyle. “During my time with the company, I have seen PressReader evolve significantly. We have doubled down on our efforts to continually improve our products and refine the solutions that we provide to our partners and customers across different verticals, from libraries and education to aviation and hospitality.”

Doyle joined PressReader five years ago and is known for his product and operational expertise. He started as the general manager and research and development lead at PressReader’s Irish office. He then relocated to Vancouver as the vice-president of product, and most recently worked as the senior vice-president of product and operations. Before joining PressReader, Doyle worked for other technology and digital publishing companies including Google and Mediahuis IRL.

“Ruairí is an inspiring leader and the right person to take PressReader into its next growth phase,” says PressReader co-founder and former chief executive officer Alexander Kroogman. “Working alongside Ruairí for the past five years, I have seen first-hand how he earns the trust and respect of our teammates, customers, and stakeholders. Along the way, Ruairí’s passion for our brand, technology, and our product innovations has never faltered.”

Kroogman has transitioned to the role of executive director and member of the board of directors.
