A funeral for RCMP Const. Shaelyn Yang, a Richmondite who died last week after being fatally stabbed while in the line of duty, will be held at Richmond Olympic Oval next Wednesday (Nov. 2).

According to an RCMP news release, a statement from Yang’s family is expected in the days to come.

Information about funeral-related traffic restrictions will be provided closer to the date. The RCMP is currently working with individuals, groups, and businesses that may be directly impacted by the funeral arrangements.

In a news release, the RCMP expressed gratitude for the public support and condolences. Members of the public are encouraged to send an electronic message to Yang’s family and the Burnaby RCMP detachment by emailing RCMP.Condolences-Condoleances.GRC@rcmp-grc.gc.ca

While the funeral is only open to invited guests, the RCMP is considering alternative viewing options.
