B.C. reports COVID-19 data from Oct. 16 to 22

In the past week (Oct. 16 to 22) there were 534 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 387,451 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 92 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 150 in the Fraser Health region, 137 in the Island Health region, 112 in the Interior Health region, and 43 in the Northern Health region.

The number of reported new cases the previous week (Oct. 9 to 15) decreased by one to 627.

As of today, there are 292 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 20 of whom are in critical care.

There were 148 new hospital admissions in the past week (Oct. 16 to 22). Of those, 38 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 41 in the Fraser Health region, 34 in the Island Health region, 29 in the Interior Health region, and six in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (Oct. 9 to 15) increased to 229 from the 174 originally reported last week.

There were 26 new critical care admissions in the past week (Oct. 16 to 22). Of those, three were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, six in the Fraser Health region, four in the Island Health region, six in the Interior Health region, and seven in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (Oct. 9 to 15) increased to 32 from the 31 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 44 deaths between Oct. 16 and 22. 

Of those who died, three lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, nine in the Fraser Health region, 17 in the Island Health region, 12 in the Interior Health region, and three in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (Oct. 9 to 15) increased to 46 from the 32 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (Oct. 2 to 8) increased by two to 46.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 16 cases in Richmond last week (Oct. 16 to 22), down from 22 the previous week (Oct. 9 to 15).
