B.C. reports COVID-19 data from Oct. 23 to 29

In the past week (Oct. 23 to 29) there were 486 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 387,936 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 123 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 127 in the Fraser Health region, 90 in the Island Health region, 114 in the Interior Health region, and 32 in the Northern Health region.

The number of reported new cases the previous week (Oct. 16 to 22) decreased by one to 533.

As of today, there are 286 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 27 of whom are in critical care.

There were 116 new hospital admissions in the past week (Oct. 23 to 29). Of those, 36 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 31 in the Fraser Health region, 17 in the Island Health region, 25 in the Interior Health region, and seven in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (Oct. 16 to 22) increased to 180 from the 148 originally reported last week.

There were 32 new critical care admissions in the past week (Oct. 23 to 29). Of those, seven were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 14 in the Fraser Health region, five in the Island Health region, four in the Interior Health region, and two in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (Oct. 16 to 22) increased to 28 from the 26 originally reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 23 deaths between Oct. 23 and 29. 

Of those who died, four lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, four in the Fraser Health region, seven in the Island Health region, eight in the Interior Health region, and none in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (Oct. 16 to 22) increased to 57 from the 44 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (Oct. 9 to 15) increased by two to 48.

Locally, the latest data from the BCCDC indicates that there were 26 cases in Richmond last week (Oct. 23 to 29), up from 16 the previous week (Oct. 16 to 22).
