B.C. reports COVID-19 data from Jan. 22 to 28

In the past week (Jan. 22 to 28) there were 293 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C., bringing the overall total to 395,070 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, 73 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 120 in the Fraser Health region, 33 in the Island Health region, 43 in the Interior Health region, and 24 in the Northern Health region.

As of today, there are 204 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 23 of whom are in critical care.

There were 73 new hospital admissions in the past week (Jan. 22 to 28). Of those, 22 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 34 in the Fraser Health region, eight in the Island Health region, five in the Interior Health region, and four in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 admissions in the previous week (Jan. 15 to 21) increased to 123 from the 104 originally reported last week.

There were 26 new critical care admissions in the past week (Jan. 22 to 28). Of those, four were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 16 in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, one in the Interior Health region, and two in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of critical care admissions in the previous week (Jan. 15 to 21) remained at 19, the same number that was reported last week.

The 30-day all-cause mortality report, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related deaths occurring within 30 days from a positive lab result, indicates there were 30 deaths between Jan. 22 and 28.

Of those who died, six lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, seven in the Fraser Health region, 10 in the Island Health region, five in the Interior Health region, and two in the Northern Health region. According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) report, these numbers are expected to increase as data become more complete.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the previous week (Jan. 15 to 21) increased to 40 from the 27 originally reported last week. Deaths the previous week (Jan. 8 to 14) increased by one to 49.
