On Saturday, March 7, celebrate International Women’s Day with the Richmond Women’s Resource Centre (RWRC).

The RWRC, which has been active since 1976, aims to provide community resources for women. Their initiatives include training programs, peer support groups, and community partnerships. In 2019, they helped over 6,000 clients.

The annual event raises funds for the centre through ticket sales, a live and silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle ticket draw. This year’s featured keynote speaker is Elaine Tan Comeau.

Comeau is the founder of Easy Daysies, a children’s calendar organizer previously featured—and invested in—on Dragon’s Den. She also leads the Vancouver and West Coast chapters of Mompreneurs, a group representing mothers who own small businesses.

Celebrity MC Thor Diakow graduated from BCIT’s Broadcast Journalism program and spent several years producing talk shows. He now works in news and entertainment television.

The RWRC’s International Women’s Day event is held at Continental Seafood Restaurant (#150-11700 Cambie Rd.) from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year’s theme is “Each for Equal.”

Tickets to this year’s RWRC International Women’s Day event can be purchased online or by calling the RWRC office at 604-279-7060 between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
