During the 10 Days of Action for $10aDay Child Care, families, educators and child care advocates across B.C. and Canada are calling for all governments and political parties to commit to expanding and strengthening the $10aDay Child Care system.
The Ten Days of Action for $10aDay Child Care provide an opportunity to highlight the benefits of high-quality $10aDay child care for children, families, women's equality, communities and the economy.
There has definitely been measurable progress in B.C. but licensed child care spaces are still in short supply, waitlists keep growing, fees remain unaffordable for too many families, and educators still earn low wages for their important work.
The Ten Days of Action for $10aDay Child Care are grassroots actions across the province that celebrate child care. There are many ways to be involved and make child care visible. Supporters will be wearing $10aDay t-shirts and buttons, the Postcard to the Premier campaign launches in 4 languages, politicians are being invited to visit child care programs, there's a video contest on social media with prizes, and parents are sharing their stories of how $10aDay child care has changed their lives – all with the hashtag #10adaychildcare.
Educators and parents in Kelowna, Kamloops, Chetwynd, Comox Valley, Victoria, Lake Country, Richmond, Vancouver, Mission, Lower Nicola, Chilliwack, Surrey, Trail, Duncan, Terrace, and other B.C. communities will be taking actions from November 20 to 30.
