Richmond Mounties have asked residents to stay away from the 11000 block of Kingfisher Drive in Steveston because of a police incident that they aren’t disclosing information about.
But an area resident overheard it could be a meth lab.
RCMP Cpl. Adriana Peralta said that Mounties and Richmond Fire-Rescue are both at the scene.
“Roadblocks have been set up and police are asking people to stay out of the area around the 11000 block of Kingfisher Drive,” she said in a press release.
But an area resident, who asked to remain anonymous, contacted The Sentinel shortly before noon Friday: “Just heard from outside our home on Kingfisher Drive: ‘You won't be able to go much further down there. Got the road blocked off. It looks like there might be a meth lab down there.’”
Firefighters have attached at least one of their fire hoses to a fire hydrant, another area resident said. And the walkway to nearby Westwind Elementary has been closed off.
Investigators seem to be focused on the 11700 block of Kingfisher Drive.
