The provincial state of emergency has been extended an additional two weeks—making it the longest period of its kind in BC’s history.
“As we slowly turn the dial on our social and economic activity, we must work together to do so in a way that keeps our communities and loved ones safe in the weeks and months to come,” said Premier John Horgan.
BC’s current state of emergency ends June 9. The original declaration was made 10 weeks ago on March 18.
Previously, BC’s longest state of emergency lasted for 10 weeks, during the 2017 wildfire season from July to September.
