Doors Open coming soon

A celebration of Richmond’s heritage, arts
and culture is fast approaching.
On June 2 and 3, the doors to a wide variety
of sites throughout the city will swing open, allowing the public the
opportunity to see behind the scenes. This year, the Richmond RCMP detachment,
Richmond Olympic Experience at the oval, Richmond Music School and Cambie Fire
Hall No. 3 will be among new sites adding to a diverse list of 41 destinations.
Presented by the Richmond Museum and City of
Richmond, the 11th annual Doors Open weekend will begin with an opening celebration
in the Seine Net Loft building at the scenic Britannia Shipyards National
Historic Site (5180 Westwater Dr.) on Friday, June 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Highlights of the evening include live music, light refreshments and family
crafts and activities. Take time to tour the Our Coastal Connection exhibit to
discover the stories of the remarkable people and groups protecting our West
Coast marine environment.
On June 2, you’re invited to join the walking
tour between Britannia Shipyards and London Heritage Farm along the picturesque
Fraser River. And for lovers of public art, there will be a public art bus tour
of Steveston Village and the surrounding waterfront neighbourhood. Seats are
limited, and cost $5 per person.
