Today is Orange Shirt Day in Canada, a chance to remember the impact of residential schools.
The event was created in 2013 to promote education and awareness about the residential school system and its impact on Indigenous communities across the country. Canadians can mark this important day by wearing an orange shirt and promoting the slogan “Every Child Matters,” as well as taking the opportunity to learn more about the history of residential schools.
