Three days into advance voting in Richmond, thousands of voters have already cast their ballots.

In Richmond-Queensborough—the city’s largest electoral district—where there are nearly 40,000 registered voters, 2,946 cast their ballots in the first three days of voting. And in Richmond-Steveston, 2,377 of 36,844 ballots have been cast to date.

The advance voter turnout has been slightly lower in Richmond’s central ridings. Richmond South Centre has seen 1,478 ballots cast of 33,522 registered voters. And Richmond North Centre has seen 1,506 ballots cast of 37,190 registered voters.

In total, 5.6 per cent of registered voters across Richmond have cast their ballots already through advance voting. And across BC, nearly 700,000 voters requested vote-by-mail packages as of Oct. 13.

Advance voting continues until Oct. 21. Election day is Oct. 24.
